A: Rosetta Stone is a unique and innovative software solution that teaches language in an engaging and inspiring way - there is no translation and there are no tedious grammar lists. Based primarily on your PC or Mac, using either CDs or an online subscription, our program immerses you in a new language from the start. And even when you’re out and about, you can review what you’ve learnt using the accompanying Audio Companion™ CDs.
Q: How does Rosetta Stone teach a new language?
A: Rosetta Stone uses a method called Dynamic Immersion®. Similar to the way you learnt your first language as a child, Dynamic Immersion® surrounds you with images married to words, phrases and whole sentences. You will learn quickly, instinctively and naturally. From the outset you will think in a whole new language.
By interacting with a carefully designed series of activities, you will experience continual breakthrough moments giving you both the skills and the confidence to speak, listen, read and write in a new language.
Throughout the course, our proprietary speech-recognition technology helps refine your pronunciation. Each unit concludes with an opportunity to apply your new skills within a simulated conversation.
Q: What makes Rosetta Stone more effective than traditional learning methods?
A: Traditional methods of teaching rely on translation and grammar rules to explain meanings and structure. Q: How does the ‘Adaptive Recall’ feature work?
A: Adaptive Recall schedules review exercises at optimal intervals based on performance. Surpass expectations and the exercises will be deferred; fall short and they will appear sooner. The program suggests an expected review date and automatically informs you when it’s due again. Adaptive Recall sessions are designed to test new language knowledge and ensure long-term retention.
Q: What is Audio Companion™?
A: Audio Companion™ discs are included with all our Version 3 products and contain content that mirrors the exercises in the program. By listening to Audio Companion™ on your portable CD or MP3 player you reinforce what you’ve learnt and boost long-term retention.
Q: I understand that Rosetta Stone is software. Are there books or tapes?
A: Rosetta Stone is computer-based language-learning software available on CD or online. Aside from the accompanying Audio Companion CDs and user’s guide, no further instructional materials or documents are necessary.
